Burgers, outdoors, plastic, nike

Burgers, outdoors, plastic, nike

Back with another injection of notes for those that wanna dig into what we're up to, what we're reading, what we're excited about.

If you want to chip in, feel free. We're all about collaboration.

The Shake Shack recipe book

Have you ever had a Shake Shack burger or Concrete? If you love a good, simple burger, then grab one. They exceed your expectation of what is essentially a few patties, some veg and sauce inside 2 toasted buns!

But now they're sharing the stories and the recipes! I love it when brands decide to do things like this. It brings you deeper into what makes them tick. I doubt I'll ever make a Shake Shack burger, but I love this. Dig in...

Slowly, slowly, softly, softly, quietly, quiet. I've been noticing these guys posting on instagram and gathering momentum. What they're putting out looks sickeningly cool. Yum I want.

We'll head down to Kudhva very soon and most likely wander around amazing and feel lucky we're surrounded by peeps and nature like this.

Their tree tents look like a real release, and they're on Air BnB...I'm taking Niv just for the wonder and adventure - https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/17127451

Take a look, decide for yourself. https://www.instagram.com/kudhva/

Henderson Island

Sometimes you read a story that blows your mind. Plastic use, and plastics in the ocean is deservedly receiving a lot of press at the moment. But when you actually see the pure waste, destruction and impact our use of plastics is having, it hits hard.

I used to live Middle East, and the trash you see on pretty much every Arabian Gulf beach, is horrendous. Some of the beaches in Oman are thick, deep in washed up plastics.

Just sharing, backing the girls and boys working on this huge problem.

Nike's LED running track

It's a gimmick, it's not real, it's Nike! They say. I say it looks rad, and I'd love to give it a go. It has echoes of the public spaces envisaged in Minority Report. It's a use of LED and tracking  tech that gets me excited.

It's gamifying the run, gamifying in the right way. It makes me think of the ghost kart in Mario Kart. Straight-up I run in Nike, I run a lot and I want to run this track.

Having heard a lot about what Nike are on the verge of releasing in terms of their running tech and NTC elements, this is just the start of an AR approach to athletic performance.

Notes of Obsession

Notes of Obsession

So, let's dig into a few more notes from the last few weeks. Things we're into, things we've done and some ramblings.

Again, what we build is nothing without the As One Crew, YOU, so chip in.

In no order of importance:

Jubilee Pool, Penzance

This place is somewhere of true and powerful punch-to-the-face effect. The pools themselves are sunken slightly, so you get these glimpses of them as you drive into town, and it's only until you walk through the gates that you can fully appreciate the scale of them.

I was generously taken on a tour by the ever-epic Martin Nixon, who walked me through incredible history the pools, which only went further to conjure up mental video of all the amazing people the pools have played host to.

It's vibe, tone and architecture takes you to a magical place in time. It makes you feel decadent and distinguished, like sitting with someone of age and wisdom. There's reassurance and shelter in it's years.

We're taking a swim there on day one! - https://www.jubileepool.co.uk/

Thoughts on small number As One Networkshops

We can say with certainty that people of Cornwall love getting together. We can also say that small/community business in size and mentality rules in Cornwall.

We're thinking about bringing peeps together around certain industry sectors, skill-sets and requirements to help cross-pollinate ideas and solutions.

That sounds very wordy, but what I mean is a time and place for people doing similar things to share their experiences and ideas to assist and progress projects.

Building a bigger, more beautiful event

We're planning a weekend As One Talks, to be held in Sept/Oct. Essentially, we'll be bringing together the best of the best. Making a weekend of talks, workshops, project building, showcasing, music, dance, alcohol and food.

If you want to be involved, here's my rally cry. COME ON THEN! Tell us what we need!

Skateboarding on a frozen beach

Talks that make you want to GO DO!

Y'all know we are all about just shutting off the mind, and getting shit done. So when we watched this talk (lovingly passed onto us by a champion of the As One Community), we were buzzed.

An epic chat through a path and belief that resonates deeply. Care for others, fire-up their dreams and spirit, and the possibilities are reality.

Enjoy, we want you Jack Hubbard, we want you at our next event!

Right, that's it for now. Get in touch, and register to hear more.

Notes on notes

Notes on notes

Here comes Notes; Notes is going to be all that's going on in our heads here at As One, what's going on in the world, and perhaps some commentary on both.

We'll take your notes on Notes and we'll make it into something informative, rambling and epic. So feel free to chip in.

Super Powers

Cold Water Immersion - Based on the evidence, there's nothing that should stop most people doing this (Save for all those that may not be suited to shockingly cold water). Benefits include improved lymphatic circulation, improved CV circulation, reduced muscle inflammation, boosts happiness levels, increased weight loss. Sounds like a wonder drug, and one that I've decided I'm gonna start taking. (No wetsuit silly face!)

Running with friends

There's so many reasons to choose running. I've been playing around with the idea of setting up a running club with a twist. I've done the stupid bit of naming it, so that it is in fact a "thing". I've also told people about it, so now I feel even more compelled to do it. Vice Run Club will be a regular, weekly, run that is coupled with a vice.

So we(me and nobody else at the moment), would run with a view to having a beer, or a coffee, or a shot of something stronger afterwards!

The benefits of running, then coupled with running with friends, then coupled with running followed by a vice...mmmmm, on fire!

Tell us what you think and whether you'd come along for the ride.

Here's some stuff we're (I'm) loving at the moment:

James talking to a few people about getting your shit together, the history of humans and where we may be going. Altucher makes me laugh, as every time I listen to him I re-realise that we're all still just trying to work it out. Life is fluid, organic and always changing, and therefore we have to be iterative and pliable to the unseen bends.

Surf Shacks. I love small houses, I think we should all love small, as-self-sustaining-as-possible houses. Preferably wooden, black weatherboard, outdoor shower, rainwater retrieval, renewables powered, Tesla battery nestled in the outhouse, small parcel of land growing everything we need because we turned vegan, micro-brewery in the garage next to a fully stacked calisthenics gym. Too much?

Harbour Beer. As a "newbie" (hate that phrase) to Cornwall I'm just blown away by the food and alcohol. So likely this first choice will change, blossom, explode into many many other brands. But loving Harbour at the moment.

Oddisee. What They'll Say. The Good Fight.

Get in touch, tell us whats going on. Love!

Where "work" is going?

Where "work" is going?

The remote and nomadic worker is now well and truly cemented into the present and all our futures. If you're a consultant, freelancer or entrepreneur of many kinds, this is likely no crazy news. However, a number of forces are now aggressively colliding, meaning this shift is sharply in view for every worker and for every company.

The rise and rise of Tech and the internet means...
